116 Teams 'til Kickoff: Eastern Michigan

The Eastern Michigan Eagles, like Boise St., play on a field the color of there uniforms. The comparisons end there, and in this case the uniforms are green.

East Michigan has a history of ending up near here in lists line this. These lists are fairly static and not much movement should be expected from one year to the next. This is amplified in lists where an average over a number of years is used.

Head Coach: Ron English (Second Year)
Offensive Coordinator: Ken Karcher (Second Year)
Defensive Coordinator: Phil Snow (First Year?)

These are the type of teams Vanderbilt schedules for homecomming to dodge the claim that they are afraid to play a FBS team.

NCAA rules require all teams from a conference with a championship game to have that game listed on their schedules.

These reviews are making me start to feel mean. Really though, that is what happens when you start at the bottom. Especially if you really are mean.

Poll
Is it ok to be mean to the bottom 10 teams?
No, they have fans and we should be sympatheic to their needs.

Yes. If they don't like it they can try to win a few games every now and again.

EMU May be worse this year than last.. (yes worse then this 2009's 0-12)

Hard to believe I know but for all the Eagles Struggles of late Andy Schmidt was a very talented quarterback. When he went down half way through the year the Eagles offense actually got worse.

As to being mean to bottom ten teams? why not, Personally I think if LaMichael “Rick” James jokes are OK for Oregon State, it’s most certainly OK to take shots at the Bottom ten.

Maybe they should change their school colors to … I don’t know … orange, pull a Boise State / Eastern Washington and change their field color to orange. At the very least, it would get people talking about their program.

Their* needs

Typo in the poll.

Also, the “bottom line” of the terms to join BCS evolution is “don’t be mean.” Thought it was ironic, with the poll’s theme and all.

Typo in the correction… now I feel horrible.

I fixed the poll.

I did consider that irony. Perhaps I should clarify the difference between being mean to a team and the fans of a team.

Eastern Michigan is currently a horrible football program with little hope of near term success. This does not mean that Eastern Michigan fans should be disparaged upon. It takes some gall to even stand up and say you are an Eastern Michigan fan in public. That should be respected with a sense of awe and sympathy.

But as for the football program, EMU might be better off in the FCS. I don’t think they are an Appalacian State … unless they prove me wrong on September 25th.

It will be defensive coordinator Phil Snow’s first year at EMU. He was linebackers coach for the Detroit Lions from 2005-08, and has previously been an assistant coach at the University of Washington, UCLA, Arizona State, California, Boise State and Laney College.

Hey, if EMU is #116 this year, that's an improvement

since they tied with WKU for worst last year (0-12), although WKU was arguable worse than EMU, since EMU was at least competetive in some of their losses, while WKU got consistently blown out.
