2010 Rose Bowl recap
Pasadena California, January 1st 2010
A pleasant 70 degree day in Southern California in the historic Rose Bowl stadium was the perfect venue for this clash of big name conference champions. And both teams came to play.
The Ohio St. Buckeyes came out strong and jumped to a 10-0 lead early but was unable to put more points on the board to seal the deal in the first quarter. After the first quarter the Oregon Ducks defense stiffened and Oregon's offense began to move the ball, but also began making costly mistakes leading to two Ohio State field goals. The results was a 16-10 Ohio State lead at the half.
Oregon started the third quarter with a twelve play 4 minute drive to take the lead 17-16. Ohio State answered with an 11 play 4:30 minute drive leading to a field goal and retook the lead 19-17. Oregon looked to be driving down the field when a fumble out of bounds in the end zone turned the ball over. Both defenses stiffened as both teams exchanged punts.
Ohio State got the ball two minutes into the fourth and drove down the field in thirteen plays, 6 minutes and 81 yards for a touchdown to take a 26-17 lead that gave them a formidable lead. Oregon answered with a 44 yard kickoff whose momentum quickly fizzled with a missed field goal four plays latter. With five minutes left and the ball Ohio State reigned in the remaining game momentum and drove the clock into the ground.
With this win Ohio State ends a three game BCS bowl losing streak in the grandest stage in college football.

It feels so much better to have won a BCS bowl game after the previous 3 years … don’t forget, now 5-2 in BCS games, only trailing USC.
Anyways, utesfan, am sure you have a decent database access somewheres. Is there a way to find out if any othere teams have beaten 5 10 win teams in the same season? The Buckeyes finish at 11-2 (losses to USC and at Purdue), but have beaten Penn St (11-2), Wisconsin (10-3), Iowa (10-2 at the moment), Navy (10-4) and now Oregon (10-3)
