17 Teams Remain in the BCS Picture

The BCS's facebook is reporting that 16 teams remain under consideration for a BCS spot, plus Ohio State who has cliched a spot.  My apologies for directing undue scorn at the BCS last week.  I will attempt to ensure I direct proper scorn in the future.

This week it is just a list on Facebook, not an official release.

AQ Champions:

Big 10: Ohio St. Buckeyes

Possible AQ Championships:

At Large Contenders

(If they earn a top 14 ranking by December 6th and would not make a third team from their conference)

TCU Horned Frogs, Boise St. Broncos, Iowa Hawkeyes, Penn St. Nittany Lions, Virginia Tech Hokies and BYU Cougars.

Teams Removed from BCS Consideration This Week:

LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma St. Cowboys, USC Trojans

Star-divide

Basically some teams were trimmed that lost, became clear they would be the third team from their conference or are unlikely to move into the top 14.  Last week they drew the line at 20, this week 17.

Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Oregon and Texas will likely remain BCS eligible even with a loss.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
