BCS Field Narrows to 20

I have already assessed the BCS races but the BCS has produced their list of teams still under consideration for a BCS bowl.  This serves a practical purpose because now the remaining 100 teams are officially cleared by the BCS to pursue securing another bowl berth.

Much of the official release was dedicated to the selection process.  I have more faith in any readers that would be here than to repeat what you likely already know.  I have provided a link to their official release for that.

AQ Champions:

Big 10: Ohio St. Buckeyes

Possible AQ Championships:

At Large Contenders

(If they earn a top 14 ranking by December 6th and would not make a third team from their conference)

Boise St. Broncos, BYU Cougars, Iowa Hawkeyes, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma St. Cowboys, Penn St. Nittany Lions, USC Trojans, TCU Horned Frogs, Virginia Tech Hokies

Star-divide

Pretty straight forward, really.  They took all possible conference races and all teams in the top 20 of the BCS standings.  I can't say that is a bad place to set the line in general.

I'm just saying this would be a good field of 20 teams for a tournament.

If Utah upsets BYU this week and jumps USC and Miami it will be interesting to see if they are added to the pool of teams under consideration in next weeks release.   Not that they would ever be selected.

To the teams not listed above: the time to search for bowls is now.

Thanks, will fix!

I was wondering how i missed that they actually has 21 listed when I first posted this. I counted twice before posting and it matched the 20 claimed.

Big 10 counting. They still don’t count Penn State either.
