First Official BCS rankings open thread
Here is your place to discuss this weeks rankings. The first official BCS standings will be released after the early NFL game on Fox between 4 and 4:30 PM today. The other polls will be out by noon, as usual.
If you really can't wait for the BCS standings BCS Guru has posted his usually quite good approximation. He will also have a break down of the teams beyond the top 25.
I am suspect of his #1 spot, as Alabama might take the reigns thanks to heavy support in the computers. Boise State will likely be #4, and will stay there as other teams dance around them.
I will post an analysis of the standings on Monday night.

TCU
Very curious where they will be ranked today.

Interesting note in todays polls
Is that the undefeated and current Big 10 leader Iowa is behind two non-BCS teams in Boise State and TCU. Also, the way Utah shot up the polls I find it conceivable that if Boise loses a game that if either Utah, BYU, or TCU win out they will go to a BCS game with one loss. Well, except for TCU who I think will jump Boise if they are able to win out because they play #16 BYU next and if Utah keeps winning they will be possibly top 15 in a few weeks.

TCU should jump BSU if they win out...
they play a flat out tougher schedule.
Although I don’t see any reason why they can’t both go. I’d be willing to bet that they both end up in the top 6-7 by years end (both undefeated) and TCU gets the nod based on the computers. Only 4 more years of this crap right?

TCU
There is two more years in the evaluation cycle after this year, but the BCS TV deal starts with ESPN for 4 years in the 2011 bowl games.

4 more years under this contract.
With no official impetus for change. One of my goals here is to give this conversation a home.

If Iowa goes undefeated
and let’s say that bama, texas and florida all have one loss, would there be any chance that iowa doesn’t get in.

Yes.
Cincinnati would likely stay ahead of them and USC could pass them with a win over Oregon and Arizona (now a top 25 team in the BCS standings) if those two teams win out.
This does not even address the issue of whether Florida, Alabama and Texas would fall below them with a loss, which might have been your real question.

BCS system sucks!
Especially for teams like Boise and all of those “non bcs” top schools.
How does a team like Utah, that goes undefeated, and dominates an albama team, not get a chance top play for a national championship? That’s an outrage!

The Harris poll only releases the final poll
It will be at the Harris poll website at the end of the season.
If the poll is public you can find it here
